It's not rocket science. Capitalism is designed to make and keep people poor. Our entire economic system would not be possible if there were no poor. Point out some poor in scandanavian nations if you can - they have a social democratic system and are the best places in the world to live according to the UNDP.
You can't eliminate poverty without eliminating wealth. As someone already mentioned, the rich get richer while the poor get poorer, it's no coincidence.

Greed!!!. The rich get richer the poor get poorer. In Africa there are so many resources however alot of countries there have poor people because the government is corrupt and/or rebels and other political parties wage war against eachother for power. Put it this way if everyone was rich there will be no one to do the **** work. The system is set up that way.

I believe that higher education should not be for profit
Health care is a right not a privilege. And parents should be held to higher standers(Any one can have kids but most don't raise their kids and just want to leave their seeds. Potential parents should have to take courses on ways of raising their kids and providing leadership to their family, Before they can be entitle to some government funded programs. And be taxed extra as the tax payers will have to pay the cost of government to undue and respond to the results of their lack of participation in their families. Most criminals are the result of bad examples and neglect. And crimes destroy community and family values).
And a child should no a basic trade by the time he becomes 18 years old. They should have some management skills, communication, leadership, entrepreneurship, team work, networking, decision making and planning.
1.bad leadership in family, community and/or government
2.lack of education
3.bad personal decision
4.corruption in government
5.unfair trade laws
6.lack of industries and employment opportunity
7.illness
8.discrimination
9.capitalism and communism: to far to the left or right
Lack of socially responsible economics.
10.lack of self determination.

Well, you have a greater obstacle to overcome if you're born into a poor family. Also, lack of education if you're in a lousy school district can be a factor. Or a person might lack ambition, drive, or self-discpline - or be just plain lazy. Sometimes a person works hard and just has bad luck - stock market crashes, house burns, critical illness, ect.

factors are not to be seen in absolute terms. A part from Greed, all other factors become factors of poverty when they interact with other factors
lack of education and awareness
lack of travel
lack of union
employers' greed
profit maximizing capitalism
overpopulation

No birth control.
If you look at poor families in the third world, each has no less than 4 kids, and when those kids grow up, they will have 4 kids each. So poor people grow rapidly just like a piramid.
