Well just like many have mentioned sex is a great stress reliever. If that is not really the option your looking for..
I find great comfort in front of my television, lights off, candles lit all around (if they are not scented then light some incense). Can't go wrong with your favorite ice cream... and on the television is your favorite feel good movie. My choice for this season would be Family Man.
Don't do this often however it is not good for the waist line!

Soothing music, warm bubble baths, candles (especially ones that omit a scent that you enjoy), incense, yoga, pilates and physical activity like jogging are all wonderful ways to become stress-free. You can also try meditation; just find a peaceful clean spot and clear your mind. If focusing on your breathing helps, then by all means do so.
Ways that you should NOT try to relieve stress are through caffeine/alcohol, taking out anger on friends and family or staying up later into the night. Cutting down on the caffeine/alcohol and getting enough sleep are great ways to helping you feel energized and relaxed.
XOXO,
Laurie

Many of the other answers are good, but here is a different one:
"Go on a information/stimulation fast".
This means turning off the TV, the computer, the iPod. You can listen to relaxing music (classical or new-age). Avoid magazines, newspapers, TV, radio, etc. These things are all designed to stimulate you.
Do this for 2 days (the weekend). It will be hard at first, but come Monday - you will feel a lot calmer.
