Ignorance can only be a negative bliss... knowledge is necessary for the positive bliss. Moreover, ignorance based freedom from care or concern or pain can not last for long.... the time would certainly come when the curse of ignorance would fructify to inflict the inevitable pain or suffering. The apparent bliss from ignorance is ignorant and illusory bliss... not the real bliss.

I believe that only a fool can be completely blissful and ignorance makes one a fool. Bliss seems to be the state of pure happiness and not caring about anything. If you know nothing, then you have nothing to care about. If you don't know what boredom is, then I suppose you cannot really be bored. However, it has to be total ignorance of EVERYTHING. One cannot know some things and not crave for the knowledge of something more. Therefore to a person who has lived in some sense of living in this society, ignorance of matters can no longer be bliss.

You don't know what you don't know! Bliss doesn't fit because the word implies something satisfying, but how can there be a result of satisfaction in something that you are unaware of?
