That is BEAUTIFUL news!!!!! I am glad you found this and posted it on this website! Congratulations to all of us - the people are coming around and it is a marvelous thing in our eyes!

Does it harm me or my family that consenting adults want to do somthing that I do not want to do ?

No - homosexual marriages are legal here -

The population of homsexuals has niether gone up nor down

Sexual attraction is hard wired into the brain - so it isn't the convert religion that will kill us all as some christians have asserted

If the bible is to be taken as any sort of text beyond hate litrature - then it in itself proves that homosexuality has been around for more than 5,000 yrs

I find on the whole the people who disagree with and have horrible reactions to open homosexualiity are themselves in the closet

Now closet homo's who hate themselves are a danger to me and my family - When people are taught to hate their very nature - they become unbalanced and often dangerous

The church - has a lot to answer for in our society

The Priests - have a lot to answer for and so on - they have commited more evil against the social structure and mankind than any other group or institution

A gay bar I am not going to go in is far less of a danger to me than the church on the same block that I am also not going to go in

It makes me feel pretty good. It means the anti-gay brainwashing hasn't been working that well.

When you mention villains like homophobes, don't leave out the self-hating gays! Or the abrasive, counter-productive ones who help the right-wingers by calling straight people "breeders."

Venting your frustrations may make you feel better for a moment, but in the long run it hurts the cause of freedom that both of us support.

It makes me feel like the country is split pretty much right down the middle on this issue and that no one can declare a victory.

Now if you want to change the minds of the other 45%, how about a little more logic and little less insulting "breeder" nonsense?

It makes me feel slightly better about humanity to know 55% of Americans are capable of recognizing that gays are *human beings who deserve the same civil rights as heteros*. No, heteros should not get special legal privileges (marriage) just for being hetero.

I think I saw that 80% + oppose gay marriage. I don't support special rights for gays. Do what you wanna do, just keep it private.

EDIT: Gay marriage makes gay socially acceptable. Then you get two dudes holding hands in the grocery store. Or two young bulls necking in the H.S. hallway. This is just a thought for those who think what gays do have no effect on the general public. Having to explain this to young kids would make our society more, I'll censor myself and say, more hectic.

Secondly, it is not a politician deciding who can do what. It is the public keeping our social norms in order by controlling what those in Washington do, such as opposing gay marriage.

It's not gay rights that they are supporting it is same sex civil unions.
Well, it is an ABC poll so who knows it's validity.
Either way the results are not that surprising considering the presidential candidates and the media (no one throwing stones over Will and Grace).

Troll on.

hmmm... bedrooms people say....I don't see it that way ....where are the civil union ceremonies going to be? In highway rest stops? airport bathroom stalls? or in private video booths at the local sex shop?

well civil unions might be fine, but will that cut back on the "creepy factor" of highway rest stops, cruising areas in state parks, yea and airport bathrooms?

and I'm sure divorce lawyers are all for it, it opens a new set of clients....

Nothing. It means nothing to me. I still don't approve of gay marriage and never will. Nor do I have to like gay people or gay rights just because a majority of people do.

I think that poll is not accurate. Gays do not need rights. They are just people like you and I. Tired of this crap. We are all equal. If a person is gay that is their choice. They don't deserve any more rights.

That poll is grossly inaccurate. I don't think anyone believes it. In 2004, I think 12 states banned gay marriage, and that included liberal states like Oregon.

Just because us "breeders" don't approve of gay marriage doesn't mean we hate gays. I have several gay friends. Calling us "homophobic" just indicates that YOU are the bigot.
