Why the rule made barring presidents not to serve more than two terms in USA? Is it not undemocratic?Say the man is popupular and he wants to serve more but he has already served two terms now why he will not be allowed to contest for presidency if his party and countrymen wants him as president? I find no reason, some one is requested to explain.

Only one president has ever served more than two terms.

His name was Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR). He was my favorite president. He was elected to the presidency 4 times, but died during his fourth term.

There were people who were opposed to the changes that FDR brought to America, and they were mostly responsible for creating the term limit that allows a president to serve no more than two terms. The theory goes that term limits keep one man from dominating US government for so long that it will take a long time to undo his policies, because they will have been so entrenched for so long a time.

But you are right, people reelect politicians who are popular. FDR WAS popular, very popular. That's why people voted for him over and over again. His policies (many of which have been undone in recent years) were exceptionally popular.

I have also felt that term limits are undemocratic.

Stop being so ****** up, people. Being informed starts by asking questions. Anyway, like many others have said, Bush, the father was president and then it was his son. The difference in names is George Walker Bush for the father and George Herbert Walker Bush for the son. The 22nd amendment which limits a president's terms was put in place after Franklin Delano Roosevelt (not to be confused with Theodore Roosevelt which was his distant cousin and uncle of Franklin's wife) served four terms.

The reason behind this rule is to ensure that no one person has too much power. Franklin Roosevelt served 4 terms and the limit was put into place after he died in office.

The only person to be elected to more than two terms was Franklin Roosevelt. The law was passed when his opposing party had control of Congress, but I don't know the exact time frame.
