What do you think? I think we should. I have my reasons, and they are solid to me. Leave out religious answers, please, I want to hear reasons for and against that I can take to my senator or representative.
Let the debate begin! : )

Yes.
I don't use it, but I don't see how a society that allows some mind-altering chemicals (i.e. alcohol) to be legal and others (especially a naturally growing plant) to be illegal.
Prohibition did not work. Instead it created huge power bases and profits for organized crime. It also created rampant violence as criminals fought over market share.
We see that same dynamic today. Over half the population in prison is there for drug related crimes. Drug lords have the influence and power to field private armies. Gangs kill each other over turf largely to protect drug profits. It's insane!
I'm not saying that drugs are a good thing, but there is a much better way to deal with the problem than locking people away for their addictions and creating a black market and incredible profit and power for those who would sell drugs.
The "war on drugs" is a ridiculous waste of human lives, money, time, effort and is ultimately unwinnable. It's time we as a society decide to deal with them in a much more mature and responsible manner.
For what it's worth, I'm a conservative Christian.

I thought it was legal. People smoke it in movie theters, concerts, etc.
I don't use it and never have. But the U.S. does like to tax items and I am sure the insurance companies can find a way to make major bucks off the LEGALIZED sale to pharmaceutical companies...NOT STREET PHARMACISTS. In fact, legalization may put a damper on the street sales of cannibus because you would be able to get it anywhere and HOPEFULLY not laced with something like..Black Flag Ant/Roach Spray,
Yea...legalize it. Then the manufacturers will find a way to make it less potent, thereby causing a desire for more frequent usage and more demand for the supply thereby allowing the suppliers to make more money and the govt. can make more in taxes.

Well yeah..http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2003/12/22/whyIsMarijuanaIllegal.html.........Like seriously why not..Alcohol is legal..How many people die from drunk driving..How many people die from driving while high. Why would people even say no..You could tax it and the gov would make money. It's harmless..So many people smoke it..Most cops don't even care about weed..Go to Denver or certain places in California and it's basically legal to possess a small amount..So my answer is Heck yeah it's awesome..Notice all the people that said no had no reasoning for saying no? I mean it's not safe to smoke anything if your thinking lung cancer but that can't be the reason to say it should be a crime cause cigg's aren't illegal..There is a reason that doctors want to prescribe it to cancer patients and sick people..because in so many ways it can help..For example, ever had a headache or hangover and smoked a little weed...Magically you feel better..Ever been sick and needed to eat but couldn't? Smoke some weed. Ever been sad or depressed and needed to be happy? Smoke some weed..

Honestly...most government officials would agree, however the mafia would be so po'd, it just aint gonna happen. It is more valuable when illegal and the only downfall for civilians is you are screwed with a record for something that is only illegal to help criminals get rich.
lobbyists $$$ and strong arm tactics will prevent it, for now. WHen the enemy takes over, they will legalize it to keep people pacified and sedate.
They own our major banks and Kuwait Oil has bought half of Dow Chemical. It will be legal soon dear. dont need to bother your senators about it.

It should be legal for medical use. I know people with Multiple Sclerosis that do get great benefit from it. Also someone with a massive head trauma that gets relief from debilitating headaches with it. Also it has been shown to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy for cancer patients.
They shouldn't have to suffer or deal with the side affects of man made drugs to feel better. It's total prohibition.

We should all be as wild as the Canes that the
Wind Blew in too it's Purpose
WHAT makes one think it is all sugar Canes
no one really knows or do they
As in its juice right from the cane that one sucked upon
in the youth of my life
NOT AS IN POWDER what you call refined today
WILD as the stalks RATHER
NATURAL in its LIQUID
but consider there are CANES TOO i use them
as a shield in my privacy because i respect those
but my privilege are MINE NOT THEIRS,!!
as in my Orchard MY ENCHANTED Garden
it has been Planted !
As the [ I ] With in Me,,,

I certainly do. I feel that part of it's popularity is that it is illegal. Legalization would allow taxation, create jobs and decrease drug incited crime. Of course, it would fall under the jurisdiction of the ATF and the FDA...hence the suppliers would have to adhere to strict regulations and guidelines.

i think ...yes....too much time and money is being spent fighting a losing battle against it...its everywhere, sell it like cigs tax it, use the money gained to help rebuild our economy, you really dont hear of any horror stories from people who smoked, and did something bad or something, its worse with booze and other more serious drugs...just my opinion

we should because, like alcohol, its only harmful when its used excessively. and alcohol is legal so...
also the amount of money spent on enforcing having it as something illegal - is not proportional to any amount of 'harm' (if any) that it actually does, so in other words keeping it illegal is a waste of money - and even if governments dont care about freedom and tolerance you would think one thing they of all of people would at least understand about is money!
