No, birth control will not harm an existing pregnancy, nor will it cause birth defects.
Even Plan B (the "morning-after pill") does not affect an existing pregnancy. It works by delaying ovulation, so that you never get pregnant in the first place. If you're already pregnant when you take it, it won't work, and it won't harm the pregnancy.

If you are within the first 72 hours, taking the morning after pill is the same as taking two weeks of birth control pills. And yes it will make you very sick. If you are past that amount of time then no, taking a months worth is not going to make you have a miscarriage, all that could do is make your baby have defomities, or cause some problem to you with having that much hormone in your system. So if you are past the 72 hours, the best thing to do would be to schedule an abortion. You can go to planned parenthood, or look in your local yellow pages for family planning places. A lot of the time if you go in early, it can be very cheap, or if you have insurance and go there, it can even be covered. Your parents and friends never have to know. You go in the morning, are out in a few hours, and are able to do activity the next day.

This is not a responsible way to induce a miscarriage. Taking all those pills at once could make her very sick, and will harm both her and the baby. Your friend should visit a licensed abortion clinic or a hospital instead of trying it at home. Especially because if a miscarriage is incomplete it causes hemmorhaging and other problems.
Tell your friend to see another doctor, because this one should lose his license.

Some do .. an IUD irritates the lining of the uterus and thus you have a period every month ..even if you did get conceive during that month. With the pill - you don't conceive so no there is no pregnancy. Even missing taking the pill by a couple days would not likely result in pregnancy..it is possible but not likely.

Oh my...of course that is not true, no doctor would ever tell that to someone, sounds like you friend may be a reall y bad lier. My doc said to never take more then two at once. Taking a whole sheet of pills would just make you puke your guts out and you would probably have to be hospitalized.

It's seriously irresponsible and unethical for her doctor to tell her to use medication in a way it wasnt designed to be taken. She should see another doctor and get an abortion if she wants one. But she should also report the first doctor to the appropriate authority. He sounds like he could be dangerous telling her to take pills incorrectly.

WOW! tell her not to do it! If she were to take a whole sheet or a complete months dose the best thing to result would be a miscarrage. She would probably get very sick, but no most likely will not cause a miscarriage. Birth defects and other serious side effects, but no miscarriage.

I find it hard to believe a doctor actually advised this. It could be very dangerous. She needs to see another doctor fast. If you are in the USA get her to go to planned parenthood. In the UK, the nearest family planning clinic.
If the doctor did advise this she should get a copy of her records and report this doctor.

I would never suggest doing that! I'm not a doctor but that does not sound healthy! It could seriously hurt her....consult another doctor before you go through with this! I have never heard of this nor would I suggest it!!!
