Rather then 'come from monkeys', we evolved from the same ancient ancestor. The changes have come about over hundreds of thousand of years, and we have adapted to suit our needs, just as the apes have adapted to suit their needs. Now, after so much evolution, apes and humans are very different, and never the twain shall meet - just like birds and reptiles (also two different animals descended from a common ancestor)

okay people lest do some research before we say that we dont come from monkeys. the facts are undeniable. Evolution exist whether its us coming from monkeys or HIV/AIDS (the disease cant be cured because its always changing). Im a Christian and i believe that we came from Apes. Do some research and know your facts.

1. Humans never "just popped out" of monkeys. Monkeys slowly changed over the years into humans.

2. The reason we have monkeys still is because not every monkey needed to evolve. (ex. not ever human gets the flu because not every human is exposed to it)

Just thought i would clear those 2 things up

Hi ang,Ok,i don't know how much you know so i'll give my generic answer. These are good resources, and i'll give you some of my reccomended books that ive read and are some of the best written so far:First,go to a websight like http://evolution.berkeley.edu/ It's going to take some work but will be rewarding if you stick with it.If you want to have a little more fun, check out http://www.talkorigins.org/ or http://www.pandasthumb.org/ If you want to look into more questions answers and debate check here http://www.iidb.org/vbb/forumdisplay.php... A good book to start off with is The Selfish Gene :http://www.amazon.com/Selfish-Gene-Anniv... Also you can read ,in no particular order. The Making Of the Fittest,Climbing Mount Improbable,Genome An Autobiography Of A Species in 23 chapters,The Blind Watchmaker,The Ancestors Tale,The Mating Mind,The Red Queen,(the ancestors tale deals more directly with your question.)http://www.amazon.com/Ancestors-Tale-Pil... A few more i thought of Deep Time : Paleobiology's Perspective ,Genetics in the Wild , Frogs, Flies, and Dandelions: Speciation--The Evolution of New Species

Going back about 7-10 million years ago, we had a common ancestor with the modern apes. Going back 15 million years ago we had a common ancestor with the modern monkeys. It probably looked a bit like a monkey, I suppose.

The best description of the process I have seen in recent times is in the book by Richard Dawkins - "The Ancestor's Tale".
It is worth reading.

You have phrased your question in a way that shows you do not understand the basis of science. It is possible that the entire universe was created an hour ago just for your benefit. Your memory of what you had for breakfast, what you watched on tv today, your mother's memory of your birth and your childhood, all of it was planted when we were created an hour ago. Try to prove it wasn't. Believing in a completely literal interpretation of the bible as science is not really any different.

If you did understand science, you could certainly still believe in god, the Christian god or any other god shared by millions of people or any personal god who exists just for you. Religion addresses things that can not be explained in other ways. Science seeks to explain the way the universe works and is only as good as our ability to observe and our ability to use our minds to imagine (and those are admittedly limited abilities).

Peace be with you.

it is called evolution. u learn that in high school. some peple have trouble with concept. it is not as simple as we came from monkeys u have to look deeper into the premise. there are many people who will not accet this. but u need to get out of ur own ignorance or preconceptions about history to begin to grasp this concept. educated people have the ability to look into a problem and see its different aspects... but at times a very religious person at some point will deny that this could be true. there is NO way this could be true. another person who could be very religious too can see that there is a certain number of real life facts that can show this to be true. we do not come from monkies. we evolved from them is the same sense frogs came from tadpoles, of birds evolved from reptiles. it is all a chain of events in the evolution of the planet as a living organism. u need to get to the library and do some serious reading on the origins of life on this planet.
the argument that god made us is equally flawed if you want.. he or she ..we really do not know made us in his or her image but WE REALLY do not know WHAT he/she looked like...maybe WE made him or her in OWR image... so.. the argument can go as far as anyone wants depending of what we want to demonstrate...i am a science major. i have no problem with that concept...i don't have any problem either with the religious conception of it. they are 2 different positions on something we really do not know much about. but really the scientific argument has a lot of weight if u want to be realistic... IT IS A MATTER OF CONVICTIONS and THEY ARE BASED on theory or assumptions or stories or whatever u want to call this idea.there are no wrong or right answers.it it up to u to accept what SUITS u at this moment....icould give u more but it is really not a winnable argument, so it is really up to u to believe whatever.nothing is going to change because of what u believe or i believe.

We? First off, I am insulted by you making the choice of including all of the human race in your misconception. Seeing the misspelling of the word evolution tells me two things, you cant spell and you are too lazy to use spell check.

We did not evolve from monkeys. Please go to the site I've given. Read.

some monkeys decided to live on the ground rather than treetops and eventually, they adapted to become better suited to survival on land. Kind of why u don't see people jumping off trees in a park. but it is just a theory. so no one can prove it. they think its true, but if they make observations contradictory to this theory, they will change it. nice question

even the churches have said that evolutin is it. its not that we came from monkeys persay. we came from one of them and i am not sure which one. they have proved it but its only in dna and the way we're made. now they dont' have souls it sounds like it. they have found so many likenesses of us together and we now know that we came from then and as the millions of years progressed they have changed to what we are now. its posible and its taken alot of changing. you see how some things have not changed much the alligator was smaller but its nearly the same bt you know we had to change to beable to talk and communicate which they can do to point. jsut relax its not all that bad.

as time goes on and you see the things you have to adapt to it just naturally does it over thousands of years. I think in about 500 years .. if there is still plant earth lol....that people will be ATleast 6ft tall as the shortest and live much much longer. Because hundred of years ago people were shorter and they lived to be 40 if they were lucky. Also sometime in the far future i think that humans will be able to fly. ew that would be weird.
