Cartoonist do this sort of thing all the time in character development. For example, you may be ask to bring a tin of beans to life and characterize it or an onion that cries for example. The latter is a joke I have used from time to time. You can do this with anything and examples include; pens, pencils, cans, fruit and vegetables.
If I'm doing something like this I get a large sheet of paper and just start sketching. I play with the shapes and give then noses eyes and mouths. I try lots of excretions to see how they work with the character I have created. If after as few minutes work you feel that it's not working for you then try something else and eventually something will click and you will have a character you are happy with and you can draw up into a full character study.

What about a candle, or sizzers or a shoe or a bottle, or a cup or a chest (like atreasure chest) or a hanger or a blanket just a few objects that i thought of

A climbing vine is an option, like ivy. That could be brought to life in a picture pretty easily, I would think.

drawing anything plastic is fun
starbucks plastic cup
with the straw
and some napkins and sugar packets
ipod is too typical if your in an art class
tennis shoes are hard
hands are awsome
i highly recomend them

How about a mirror? Everything is fine until your drawing is finished and then images appear from the mirror etc...

you could draw a frame on your page, then in it draw a table with a frame on it and something non-living inside the frame. That would be really really cool.
