Not me - that's a privilege preserved for religious fantasies. I'm made of humbler stuff. But we all leave our mark on generations to follow and on the Earth that supports us - which should give us pause for more thought than it usually gets.

Yes.
But it is by God's creation that I am. It is His grace that will allow my immortal soul to live with Him. Yet that isn't enough ...I as well as anyone else has to accept Him on our faith and live in His ways in order for Him to know us.
If He doesn't know us how can He let us into His kingdom?
So we decide here and now how we will spend eternity, with God or without God. It is all up to us and our decisions while our souls reside in these mortal bodies.
The dead cannot speak nor make any more decisions so it is up to us to do that before the grave.

We all possess the capability of immortality spiritually. Physically,no we are not.I'd also like to stress the importance of the word "capability" in the first sentence. It implies a responsibility or obligation necessary to attain such a state.

Perhaps, as my ashes are scattered amongst the wind and earth, bits of my consciousness are also scattered and will surface from time to time in earth, plants, people and deep space.
