Yep. I'd go with that. Followed by Magic and Kareem, Bird and McHale, Stockton and Malone and Kobe and Shaq.

You make a good argument, but Pippen is not one of the Top 10 players of all time. He never won an MVP either in the regular season or playoffs. At best, he was a great forward who was a super complementary player.

But the greatest duo of all time should have both players rank among the Top 10 or Top 15 greatest ever players.

So my choices would be:

1. Kareem-Magic (both players were MVPs in regular season and finals, Kareem all-time top scorer, Magic all-time in assists until broken by Stockton)

2. Russell-Cousy or

3. Russel-Havlicek :

Either duo won 6 rings together, Cousy was also an MVP, Havlicek one of the all-time great forwards and when he retired in 1978, he was like the number 4 or 5 all-time scorer in NBA history

4. MJ-Pippen: 6 rings and MJ is the greatest player of all-time

5. Malone-Stockton: no rings, but numerous All-NBA selections for both of them; Malone 2nd all-time leading scorer, Stockton all-time leader in assists and steals; they never missed the playoffs

I think if they hadn't broken up, Shaq and Kobe would be there too.

1. It's gotta be Magic and Kareem, b/c they were the one's who basically paved the way for duos. If there wasn't a Kareem and Magic, we wouldn't have seen Stockton and Malone, MJ and Pippen, and Kobe and Shaq, so I give the credit to Kareem and Magic.

Everyone knows it was Jordan and Pippen. Maybe, Magic and Abdul-Jabbar depending on your era. But no tandem complemented each other like Jordan and Pippen.

Watch out for the next duo, Durant and Green.

Well it's unquestionable since they WON six championships together. But they are the PAST. If you want best duo go with Duncan and Parker, Melo and Iverson are more attractive to watch, but they haven't won JACK!

Healthy motivated Shaq and pre-pre-madonna Kobe would be a close 2nd?

You know before the rape allegation and Kobe throughing fat Shaq under the bus!

Stockton and Malone great combo but what did they ever win?

magic & kareem and bird & mchale are better in my opinion. one weakness of the bulls during jordan's time is their inability to defend against a prime low post big man. fortunately for them, they never faced one during their championship runs.

and no, malone wasn't a great lowpost player.
