+\- has been renamed to the lenovo stat in recognition of PC manufacturer Lenovo who provide the PC equipment that drives the NBA's statistical gathering and distribution processes. The intention by the NBA is to identify good combinations of players.
+/-is a stat used commonly in hockey and it basically indicates whether your team outscored the other team while you are on the floor. e.g. you see 10 minutes and your team scores 20 points while you are on the floor. The other team scores 18points your +\- = +2.
If you add one teams +\- for the whole game it will equal x5 the winning margin. i.e. The winning margin for each of the 5 players who can take the floor concurrently. The opposite teams will be the same but the opposite polarity.
e.g. The Knicks beat the Nets today by 8 pts. The Knicks plus minus = +40 (+8x5) while the Nets plus minus is -40 (-8x5).
I was very surprised to see this and BA in the Yahoo boxscores recently. I was not aware the NBA had expanded the official boxscores but a quick check shows they have. ESPN are a bit slow to pick up the new stats.
FYI
BS is shots you block on defence.
BA is number of your offensive field goal attempts that were blocked by a defender.

Dude, I was going to ask the same.
I was able to make sense of the BA, because it is matched by the BS on the other team. Which I assume is BA means your shot was blocked. But I never knew that was a meaningful stat.
If you add the +/- for each team, that also cancels out between the two teams. But I have no clue what it means. I thought maybe that had something to do with being scored on, like a defensive stat, but I really am clueless. And quite frankly, it is pissing me off. WTF is Yahoo! Sports doing.

Yea, i think this stat is a reach. I beleive its mainly just how much points you and your 4 teammates give up and how much you guys score and subtract the difference. Im really curious on what BA means on the box scores. "Block Attempts'? Wow, if so, then thats lame. Leaping in the air to attempt a block but cant. 1 BA!. Lol

Dude, i replaced into going to ask a similar. i replaced into waiting to make experience of the BA, on the grounds it extremely is matched by utilising the BS on the different team. Which i assume is BA ability your shot replaced into blocked. yet I never knew that replaced right into a significant stat. in case you upload the +/- for each team, that still cancels out between the two communities. yet I have not got any clue what it ability. i presumed possibly that had something to do with being scored on, like a protective stat, yet i actually am clueless. And extremely frankly, it extremely is pissing me off. WTF is Yahoo! activities doing.

I'm assuming it's the amount of points scored by a player's team while he was on the floor minus the amount the other team scored while he was on the floor.
