Well first of all what we "know" of Clemens is exactly what we "know" of Bonds. Both have been fingered and there is a mountain of anecdotal evidence, but never tested positive. Second of all, Clemens was also pretty damn good before the alleged abuses in 1998.
It's a fair question, given what Bonds has gone through. Tough comparison though. If Clemens never pitches again, the next time he'll be in the media spotlight is in 5 years, when he's up for the Hall. If that's the case, there won't be much discussion about him once the aftermath of this investigation has settled.
That was the unlucky part for Bonds. While the accusations swirled, he was still in the spotlight and still relevant. Most of the others were not. Sosa and McGuire were well past their prime before we heard anything, and while Giambi was still active, he was no where near the player he was.
I'd say they all get the *

Well he hasn't been involved in a criminal investigation or been suspected of lying under oath yet so he may avoid that end.
His name is already being dragged through the mud though. Even if he didn't take any thing he is going to have a hard time shaking this. Anyone that puts up numbers like Clemens or Bonds and gets accused of taking steriods will cause people to question them.

Bonds broke the home run record. probably THE most distinguished record in all of sports. He is notorious for having a nasty personality. That's the reason I hate Bonds. I am sad and disappointed in Clemens along with all the other cheaters. They were both great players before they took steroids. They should both have an * next to there records.

clemens will be slapped around but not like bonds..for one clemens is out of baseball...barry had to go threw it from fans at ballparks and media everyday..its not the a black man now owns the record cause hank had it...the media targets bonds for his arrogance..i think its a shame that clemens and everyone did it..but bottom line
nobody should get the asterisk..if it wasnt illegal than u cant asterisk the record..yes hank did it right but 100yrs from now..nobody will talk of hank..when asked who has the record theyll say barry bonds..most wont care..but it matters now
the only reason barry seems to be getting it the worst is because he lied to the grand jury...if he had said yes he did..it would be over by now..so its an ongoing investigation and your gonna keep hearing it..in 2 months..just 2..clemens will be history..until its time to pick for the hall...wrong is wrong..no matter who it is....if u let in clemens and bonds..than in goes rose..

No numbers should ever have an asterisk by it. Baseball stats are the most popular but they are the most flawed. There were no black players until 1947. In I think 1962, there were 10 pitchers who had ERAs in the 1 range. They lowered the mound heights after that. The more recent seasons had more games in the season than earlier baseball seasons.
Roger will get the pass because he is plenty more popular than Bonds. Now that 80 other people have been identified, the blame will be more spread out rather than more on Clemens.

No way; the witch hunt was directed at certain players, not the fair hair boys. Baseball didn't banned steriods until 2005, it would be easier to name the players that didn't use steriods. They missed Jeff Bagwell, Pudge Rodriguez and a lot more. The funny thing is the same people who wanted to hang Barry with no direct evidence will cry foul when it comes to Clemens,Petitte and a lot of others.

I agree that Bonds can be a bit of a jerk, but I'm still waiting to see how the media handles it w/ the spotlight on Clemens, Petitte and others. Race is still a factor in this thing even though many folks of different races stand accused. Stay tuned.

i certainly hope people jump on him, hes in the exact same position as bonds, a great player, decided he had to be legendary instead of just great, cheated like a madman, and then got arrogant about it and talked other players down, both bonds and clemens did that, they acted like they were just superior to everyone, when in fact, they were just cheating
all the bad things people want to happen to bonds, i hope they happen to bonds and clemens, cause they are pretty much the exact same person, the only difference is skin color and what state they were born in

For what? Barry Bonds is being prosecuted - not persecuted - for perjury - has Roger Clemens lied to anyone?? Not that I know of. Obviously a Grand Jury seems to believe Barry has. And that is a crime.

I hope Clemens gets his brains beat in. He's an arrogant jerk. I lost a lot of respect for Piazza when Piazza didn't go after him. I love this !
