A podcast is an audio or video blog. It's just like listening to talk radio. I have a podcast at http://www.bennation.com and it's also on iTunes under Ben Nation.
You basically record whatever you want and upload it to a website that hosts RSS feeds (Really Simple Syndication) and people can subscribe to it.
