I was going to get a dog or cat but I can't decide. I love both animals. I was thinking about raising them together. How do you raise a dog and cat together? If I get a puppy and kitten at the same time after they more likely to get along?

Getting them both when they are young would make them get along better. The thing you need to think about is whether you have the time to care for two young animals at the same time. If you were getting one first I would consider time first. Cats require a lot less time. However I think adult dogs get along better with kittens than adult cats do with puppies.

If you have never had a dog or a cat you need to start slowly in getting pets. Pets are expensive---food, vet care, toys, time, fencing, obediance classes( dog). You might want to get a young adult from rescue where the foster parent can tell you already if it gets along with cats/dogs. Don't be in a hurry, and be sure to read a good book on selecting and caring for what ever pet you choose.

getting a puppy and a kitten together is good, they would grow up together as best friends. I have cats and a dog too and they get along great and I also have a bird too. And it teaches them to get along with other pets as well.

i don't own either of them but i may have advice. if you get a dog, be care full because if you don't feed it, it may eat an infant child (if you have one) or it could eat a part of you in your sleep. i heard on the news a woman got her face ripped off by her dog after eating her newborn baby because she left to the hospital for labor without feeding it. but dogs are good pets if you treat it well. a cat would be a little better choice because it's independent and it doesn't need much attention and eats a little but it may do the same thing the dog does when you don't feed it, and it scratches hard! i think both animals at the same time is a bad choice because they would get into fights but it depends on the personality. a guy showed a pic to my mom once that his cat was licking his dog! i heard a Yorkie is easy to train, just by spraying water! but maybe, in my opinion, a small kitten is a good choice.
