I googled your link and had to skip to the second page to find a dependable source, Time magazine. Here is Robert Baer quoted this month:

"What other evidence has the CIA destroyed? And can the CIA be trusted to tell us? The CIA had told the 9/11 Commission, when it formally requested such materials, that there was no taping of interrogations. CIA lawyers also told federal prosecutors trying the Zacarias Moussaoui terror case that the agency did not possess recordings of interrogations sought by the judge and Moussaoui's defense lawyers. The CIA insists that the tapes destroyed were not the ones in question.
I would find it very difficult to believe the CIA would deliberately destroy evidence material to the 9/11 investigation, evidence that would cover up a core truth, such as who really was behind 9/11. On the other hand I have to wonder what space-time continuum the CIA exists in, if they weren't able to grasp what a field day the 9/11 conspiracy theorists are going to have with this — especially at a time when trust for the government is plumbing new depths.
I myself have felt the pull of the conspiracy theorists — who believe that 9/11 was an inside job, somehow pulled off by the U.S. government. For the record, I don't believe that the World Trade Center was brought down by our own explosives, or that a rocket, rather than an airliner, hit the Pentagon. I spent a career in the CIA trying to orchestrate plots, wasn't all that good at it, and certainly couldn't carry off 9/11. Nor could the real pros I had the pleasure to work with."

Here's the tragic part of it, to the largest extent neoconservatives have successfully proved one clear point - nobody gives a sh*t.

Barring serious inconvenience, the might of the US military can be brought to bear to "solve" the fringe interests of even a marginal allies like Israel - (marginal ally simply because of the repeated betrayal of our alliance on so many occasions (USS Liberty, repeated espionage / mole incidents / failure to act in our interests or provide valuable intelligence)).

The open actions of neoconservatives being blatantly incapable of working in the interests of the US, to the point where it's an "open secret" that Israeli hard-line interests are served, rather than those of the US.

So long as an unexpectedly large number of troops don't get killed, and nobody comes asking us to actually PAY for the war, the US citizenry rather couldn't be bothered with actually restricting our government to strictly necessary wars - such as the counter-insurgency in Afghanistan.

As far as the actual events of 9/11 the tragic incidents will likely never be known. Without indulging conspriatorial rhetoric we KNOW that the US intelligence community had enough information to reasonably act to secure or beef up passenger inspections on flights and did not do so.

We know that higher level personnel were advised not to fly domestically on commercial airways from July of 2001, that was enough to simply notify the public, this was not done, which - we now know is not a conspiracy - it's just incompetence.

It's not sexy - it's not secret and involved - but considering the buffoonery we've seen on other less-critical issues, it seems clear that an actual conspiracy is far less likely than being tone deaf to reality and profoundly incompetent.

What a few CIA agents think doesn't really matter.

I assume that the other 5 or 10 or 20 thousand CIA agents think the official story IS correct.

That's a lot of CIA agents believing the official story!!

Also, the opinion of CIA agents is not particularly important. We already have the opinion of Civil engineers & demolition experts. Every single published expert on earth has rejected the conspiracy science. It's really amazing.

("published" means "in a journal")

Nice research job dude! He was witht he CIA for 21 years, not 29 and has been writing fiction and getting paid for movie rights since 1997.

Cops always write the most believable fiction about cops. Get it? Google Joseph Wambaugh and you'll see what I mean!
