Really, I want to know. Other than Comedy Central and the Onion, who do the conservatives think the Liberal Media is?

O.K. guys, a couple of you got the right idea. List channels or papers. I'll give you the New York Times, but really, pay attention to the reports from all the other sources you listed. The NPR in my town plays nothing but republican talk shows, so no go there buddy!

I read Eric Alterman's book "What Liberal Media?" since I have been looking for this liberal media for a long time. He investigates the question of liberal bias and, in so doing, assessed the realities of political bias in the news.

In contrast to the conclusions reached by Ann Coulter, Bernard Goldberg, Sean Hannity, and Bill O’Reilly, Alterman finds the media to be, on the whole, far more conservative than liberal, though it is possible to find evidence for both views. The fact that conservatives howl so much louder and more effectively than liberals is one significant reason that big media is always on its guard for “liberal” bias but gives conservative bias a free pass.

It truly is the case of whoever yells loudest, gets their way more. What most people don't see are the economics involved, the people with the bucks who own the media in the US and world, are conservative, and like to push the public that way. Does a liberal own The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, The New York Post, a 100 newspapers worldwide, satellite broadcast operations, the Fox television network, 20th Century Fox, HarperMorrow Publishers, the online social networking site MySpace? No, Murdock owns them all. And he pushes his conservative agenda where ever he goes.

Like Eric says in his book: "The idea that the media might, for reasons of ownership, economics, class or outside pressure, actually be more sympathetic to conservative causes than to liberal ones is widely considered to be simply beyond the pale."

The liberal media is any that airs stories about gay Republican senators soliciting sex in airport men's restrooms, or Rash Limbo's drug abuse, or Newt Grinch's serial wifes.
If the media says flattering things about conservatives, it is fine; if it does not, it is liberal. Get it?

They believe the "liberal" media is anything that isn't fox news, newscentral or relating to Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh. When in reality the only sources of liberal media other than those you listed would have to include Air America. Unfortuanately neocons don't see reality, they just have their little fantasy land where the rich are rich and noone else matters.

Dearest Miles, have you been living in a vacuum or what? Just sit and watch/listen to any commentator on any of the top media outlets (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN) for just ten minutes and you'll be able to taste the bias. It's this agenda-based nonsense that got Dan Rather in deep feces. Keith Oberman, Chris Mathews, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Mike Wallace, Alan Colmes, Geraldo Rivera, Bill Moyers, Anderson Cooper and just about every morning show crew have left-wing, anti-establishment under-pinnings. Personally, I am thankful for talk radio as it allows people to hear alternative opinions on current events. At least until Harry Reed and his walking dead congress mates push their socialist ban on free radio speech. A fun fact for you...The average on-air lifespan of liberal radio programs is less than a year (Air America is a case in point).
TO TRUTH SEEKER: GET REAL! You don't think Maher and Stewart deliver their own (albeit deranged) talking points nightly? I'd have to say anyone who interviews people from a political perspective reaching millions would be considered media representatives.

what amazes me is that so many Conservatives consider the news as Liberal Media. I would love for them to explain for me how facts are Liberal or Conservative. The Liberal Media is myth.....

one guy even goes so far as to list Bill Maher and Jon Stewart as members of the Liberal Media. How is it that even those guys DON'T consider themselves as part of the media????

NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN leans left, Time mag, Wall Street Journal editors are Lefties, NY Times, LA Times, actually the majority of print media is liberal. My home town liar has an editor who has a weekly wingnut editorial column.

Lou Dobbs of CNN is not included here. He is a registered Independent and sticks up for American Values, without an agenda.

chainsaw said it but add NPR and PBS and others

I cant imagine NPR having republican shows on it, here it is all very liberal-

Funny how libs give us thumbs down tough they know that these outlets are liberal and do present the news through a liberal prism- the overwhelming majority of media members are democrats so they will naturally see the news through that prism and it is ok as long as they are willing to admit it.

Since he has been mentioned, Rush isnt a news anchor, he is a talk show host that analyzes the news and current events through his ideological prism but unlike the hard news types, he isnt trying to pretend not to be bias and that is extremely important in this debate

Since 9/11, Fox News and the Bush Regime have brain-washed them into believing that terrorists and their sympathizers are lurking around every corner, poised to infect them with a lethal virus, slice them with box cutters or obliterate them with a suicide bomb. In the black and white perspective of the Neo-Tories, you are with us or against us. If you do not fit into their narrow and misguided notion of conservatism, you must be a "liberal". The American media/propaganda machine (which the Empire's power moguls have brilliantly portrayed as "liberal" to obfuscate the fact that six corporate conglomerates own 90% of the mainstream media market) has sharply defined the "treasonous", "ineffectual" nature of "liberals", portraying them as soft on crime, sympathetic to those demonic terrorists, Socialists and Communists, immoral, and militarily weak.

It is the media section that sees nothing wrong with the ones that they back and will not criticize her with the thought of being run out on a rail.
