I volintered to help at an elementary school to help the choir director put together a simple Christmas-themed musical/play for 3rd-5th graders. There's really not much time to get a play together and this teacher is way in over her head. Does anyone have a sript or something of a play they might have used in the past? Good websites? Ideas?

Thanks a bunch.

Well, I think your best bet may be the library. Look for these books:

"Holiday plays for little players; a collection of royalty-free plays for children" by Deborah Newman
"25 Non Royalty Holiday Plays" by M. Jagendorf
"Christmas on Stage: An Anthology of Royalty-Free Christmas Plays for All Ages" by Theodore O. Zapel

I couldn't tell you if the plays are any good, but they are royalty free which is what you need right now.

This page has some, shall we say 'interesting' plays. They're cheap and buying the script gives you the right to put on the show: http://stagewrite.freeyellow.com/plays.html
http://www.taylormadeministry.com/ - this one too, but the base is religious though you are allowed to make changes to the scripts.

It wouldn't be too hard to write your own. Christmas stories are all very similar. A town or a family has a problem and won't have Christmas unless someone saves the day! etc, etc, etc... Throw in some holiday songs that you fit into the mix and voila... your own holiday play! (For instance, Little Sally who lives in Miami has it set in her mind that it won't be Christmas unless it snows - she sings "White Christmas" A bunch of mayhem ensues and and somehow some wayward elves find Jack Frost make it happen "Let it Snow")

Good luck!
