Travelers usually over pack primarily for weather reasons. If one is traveling in the summer clothes are of the light colors, light fabric. If one travels in the spring heavier clothes are the order of the day but light summer clothes are taken as well.Women usually require two changes a day which turn into three so as a result, we overpack. When one takes a business trip, the minimum is standard.; two shirts for sure.

I take what I need, because if I overpack I don't have enough room for the things I buy when I'm where ever I'm at.

pack only what I need the more I take the more I have to keep up with and the more I have to fit back into the suitcase that interestingly enough shrunk some how in the few days I was out of town cause I can never fit everything back in. then once I get home the more stuff I have to put back up when all I want to do is lay down and take a another vacation from my vacation

I pack very lightly so that it all goes in the carry on, unless it's a longer trip out of the country. I take very thin, lightweight knits that don't wrinkle and don't take up much space. I take mostly black things that all coordinate and don't require several pairs of shoes. And to make room for the return trip (souvenirs, etc.), I take my worst underwear and then just throw them away as I use them!

I'm on a plane at least twice a week (why do you think I'm a level 6) - I underpack. Minimum amount of clothes required. Never check, always carry on.
