This would depend on a number of factors. Are you or your baby at high risk? Some doctors order sonograms if the mother is small or the baby is large. Another use of the sonogram is to determine how mature the fetus is or to determine the (possible) sex of the child. Without knowing more about your situation it is really difficult to say.

some docs will do a sonogram late in being pregnant to 'examine place and weight.' needless to say this style of test is incomprehensible. (place could be desperate by making use of feeling the tummy, and ultrasounds are VERY innaccurate in determining fetal weight, and tend to hold approximately many pointless inductions and c-sections because of the fact the clinical expert guesses that toddler is 'too great.') And confident, some docs robotically do a test at each and every visit, and occassionally a woman has a clinical desire for a late test. yet there is often no clinical reason to do ANY ultrasounds in the time of being pregnant, and surprisingly no longer over the final weeks.

A lot of doctors will only give 1 sonogram at about 20 weeks. Some doctors will give you one early on if they are not for sure how far along you are but that is about it. You are so far along now that it wouldn't make sense for them to give you one.

At my doctors office it is normal to have one done between 8 and 12 weeks and another one done between 18 and 22 weeks. After that, they only do them if they suspect a problem or have a concern. I would just ask your doctor what their policies are.

I'm surprised you didn't get one at your first visit, to set the due date and heartbeat. I know with my both my pregnancies I got one at my first visit, and a screening ultrasound at about 19-21 weeks. With my son I had one done at 40 weeks when I had not gone into labor.
If you ask for one, the doctor probably won't refuse!

Depends on your dr. I am 26 wks and have already had 2 going for another one on the 26th. But then I know people who only got one. If you want one there is no harm in asking for one.

i'm not sure, because I am not that far along, but i suspect they will give you another one to see how the baby is positioned and make sure that your little one is in the correct position for birth. I'm not sure when exactly they will do this, soon I would imagine, but ask your doctor just to be sure. Good luck!!

Only if there's a need to. I had one at 36 weeks to check on the placenta location to see if I could have a vaginal birth. My friend had one because she was overdue and they wanted to check the baby's size and amniotic fluid levels.

Some times at the end they will do one to make sure things are going as planned or if they are concerned with something.
