You can remove a soap film left on glassware in a dishwasher by rinsing them with vinegar. If this is a continuous problem for you, you may want to add a half cup of vinegar the next time you wash the dishes. This will remove soap scum from both the dishes and the inside of your dishwasher. You may also want to try using less detergent than recommended if your water is soft, which is often the cause of soap residue.:)

I fill our rinse aid dispenser with white vinegar. It controls the hard water issues very well. The acidity of the vinegar neutralizes the alkalinity of the calcium (hard water residue). Just fill the rinse aid dispenser with white distilled vinegar instead of Jet Dry.

Use a product called CLR. It removes calcium, lime and rust. You can buy it at Wal-Mart or any home improvement store. After cleaning with CLR be sure to completely remove any CLR from your glasses by washing them again, the normal way.

Secondly, I would have your water tested. Sears does that for you for free in their appliance department. It sounds like you need a water softener.
