Both you and Stork are wrong : (

Our sun - 8 planets, 3 dwarfs, and 13 candidate dwarfs.
Other stars - as of December 2007 there are 268 known exoplanets orbiting other stars.
So far, 20 of these stars have more than one planet known to orbit it.

Actually is the statement that we can't estimate it, is not really true, using drake's equation, scientists estimate that there are 10 planets per star system, there are an estimated 300 billion stars in the Milky Way, giving us an estimate of 3 trillion planets in our galaxy, scientists believe that the Milky Way is a large galaxy, so the average number of planets is probably smaller.

I assume you talking about extra-solar systems? withing our own galaxy
Or, are you asking about how many in the universe?
If one were to assume the number of solar systems in a Galaxy of say a hundred, then a million galaxies would harbor ten million. We just have not found them yet.
If an extra terrestial observer at a distance of only four thousand light years away would look down a our earth, he would be watching the Egyptians building pyramids!!

There is only one 'sun', ours.
Our star has 8 planets.
In total I believe we have discovered more than 100 extrasolar planets.
