Some of the best computer you can buy for less and get a great product. Espically if you want a laptop. It very competive. So of the things mentioned would not be for the average user. Like 160 GB what are you downloading the entire state of California users? Never heard of a computer without game or serial ports. Go to a computer store and they will help you out. For 950.. you should get a printer too!

It's a decent machine and I would be on the fence about buying this. Gateway, bad experiences but the specifications are not to bad.
(1) Cache is the memory onboard the processor, it is memory that can be accessed faster than ram and a large cache means faster computing.
(2) DDR2 is basic ram, yes its good its just normal.
(3) The 5400Rpm is a little slow and yes there are 7200Rpm which would enhance the read/write performance.
(4) Built in LAN (802.11 b/g), means you have a wireless networking card in your laptop that picks up B and G wireless signals. B is a really old signal that no one currently uses for internet access and G is the 2nd newest wireless signal that is the most common signal out there. Although the wireless N came out (newest signal), wireless G is still used frequently.
(5) Do not know if gateways does that, search the site or phone them up, doesn't hurt to ask questions with the company you plan on purchasing from.
(6) You missed out what graphics card it has but I guess its not too important.
I would purchase this laptop if it had a decent graphics card inside of it for the odd time I game.
