I keep hearing that a Mac is more intuitive, easier to use, etc. Is that true, and what are the differences between the two? Also, how do I know if I have a PC or a Mac? I think I have a PC, and it's easy to use, so that's why I'm asking. Thanks;

I have nothing against either of the platforms.
MACs I would say they are easier to use, plugn play isnt so bad, you dont have to restart nearly as much as a Windows based PC when you install new hardware and software. Its great for photo editing, graphic design, animation, web designing. Not nearly as much updating as compared with windows based PCs. A downside to consider is that if you want gaming, like the hard core games, MACs will most of the time not be able to support them.

As for PCs go, They can be cheap or expensive to upgrade depending on your needs. Entertainment is about the same as MACs, except if you want to play the PC Games, then I would suggest getting a PC instead. There are more PC Games out there for PC based, than there are MAC based.
PCs you will get very annoyed with having to restart every time you install hardware, and most of the software applications. Assuming the PC is a Windows based system.
I leave the decision to you, what ever supports your needs. You can also Google the difference between MACs and PCs, probably can get more opinions and facts that way.

1) how to tell them apart: when you start a PC, you get a screen that says Windows. When you start a Mac, you get a screen that says OS X.

2) If you haven't use a computer before, Macs are somewhat easier to learn. However, the majority of people in the US and most European countries have used computers before, and most of those run Windows. Because they're so commonplace, it's easy enough to learn, and easy to find someone to help you learn.

Software for Mac isn't as widely available and it's more expensive.

Macs cost a lot more for no apparent reason.
