I've heard reports that fuel costs $2 per gallon in the US and they complain about that. In the UK it costs $9-10 a gallon.

Okay, first of all, it's $3.00/gal.

And in the past two years, it's gone up radically. I think this time two years ago, I was paying $2.10/gal.

I did a report on fuel prices in the US compared to other countries. The US has lower taxes than most other countries (Especially the UK and Canada). Also, Europe imports most of their oil from the Middle East, whereas North America imports it primarily from South America and Northern North America.

Europeans do a lot less driving than Americans, even though small engine vehicle sales are increasing, but not that much.

US Gasoline is going for around $3.00 a US gallon (which is smaller than a UK/Imperial gallon). In Canada it is CDN $1.05 a litre.

The UK taxes the **** out of fuel, the US doesn't, and Canada is inbetween.

Plus the US is a much bigger country than the UK. Hell, the UK alone would fit into the Province of Ontario (Canada) 8 times. The distances those of us drive over here are huge compared to your piddling little island.

well, i just payed 3.609/gal so where did your $2 figure come from? your ***?

a few short years ago it was less than half of what it is today... if the price of fuel in the UK became $20 per gallon in two years time, you would be bitching too.

People complain about what they know. Things may be worse in the UK, but Americans fail to take that into account. If America was worse off on something that you guys over in the UK, would you be focusing on how the Americans had it, or how things were going in your hometown?

because of the fact oil is significant and oil production and refinery potential is constrained by utilising government! And on authentic of all that there are extensive taxes on the gasoline. Taxes are the familiar contributor to the intense cost of gasoline in Europe. Gotta love them Socialists! individuals understand that in case you left the production of gas as much as the freemarket equipment, production could boost dramatically and the fees could fall dramatically.

The UK has nationalized medicine, so I bet they wonder why we complain about the cost of health care.

Because they worry about the things they have no control over since it makes them feel better rather then worrying about the things they do have control over like who's the next idiot to get elected and which country will they attack.
