i wanted to get her a digital camera printer but i dont know if i should ask her if she wants one or if i should just surprise her...its one of those presents thats nice, but your not sure if they need it or not

It depends. What type of person is your mom? Does she like surprises, or does she like to know ahead? If she has every second planned out, ask her first. If she's spontaneous, surprise her.

A surprise would be wonderful, not matter what it is. The fact you picked something out yourself that you thought she would like. Well, that's special!

Thats so thoughtful but it would ruin the suprise. Ask her to write a little wish list and pick something off of it.
