What do you think is the difference between knowing and truly understanding an individual?

knowing someone is being able to anticipate what they'll do.
understanding them is knowing why they do it.

Wen that person need help and you know how to help her you really understand that person, not just help everything elese!

That's kind of a fine line question. You can know someone and not understand them. Also you can understand someone and not know them.............
Knowing someone is more of acknowledgment of their existence.
Understanding them is more intellectual........
