Tough question. Since its hard court it won't really be in anyones favour. It could go either way and when you see Novak playing at his best, he is very good. He beat Roddick, Nadal and then Federer in a row at Montreal this year to win it. But Rafa has been playing a little longer and is more consistant than Novak. You saw how bad Novak played in the masters cup, but I can't blame him because he was just tired and didn't rest properly from his busy matches.
So, I would probably say Rafa... In a years time, who knows.

Clearly Djokovic has the better shot at Aussie '08. Nadal has never been past the quarterfinals at a hardcourt slam (Aussie or U.S.), and since he's always the #2 seed, he never gets beaten by Federer - it's always someone else. So if he can't even last to see Federer, how much of a threat can he be if Federer's not there? On the other hand, Djokovic has played for a shorter time and already made the U.S. Open final, and last year might have gotten further in Australia except he got Federer in the 4th round. Had he had Nadal's protected draw, he might have gone much further.
Add in Nadal's persistent injury issues, and it's obvious Djokovic is the better bet, and it's really not that close.

I'm sorry but with Nalbandian playing the way he was at the end of the season,he's got a better chance than Nadal because of the plexicushion which resembles the surfaces they have at the USO.Nadal has got a horrible record on the surface so count him out and he's got bad knees too.

No offense to Nadal fans, but I think that Nadal's body won't be able to take much more punishment. The only way he can continue to win is to cut down on his tournaments, so he can rest his body. Djokovic is very hungry. I think that he will be able to take Nadal down easily in the latter half of the season.

good question.
Nadal hasnt really done too well on hard courts in the slams, but Djokovic had a nasty collapse at the end of this year.
I'm not sure if Nadal is fully recovered from his knee injuries (let alone his ailing foot), and Djokovic is improving more and more each year. i think it is Federer's tournament to lose, but my guess would be Novak Djokovic just because i have more questions about Nadal.

I think Rafa would. Seeing as how the last 2 years, he's suffered really shocking losses in Australia, not having Federer in the draw would motivate him. Also, I think he may improve and correct his hardcourt game, since he's had enough time off to do so. If he does well in Chennai in a couple of weeks, it will be even more motivation and confidence, heading into the Aussie Open. As for "Nole", I don't think he is ready for winning a slam just yet. He still might be kind of mentally tired, considering how 2007 ended. However, it's anybody's guess as he could do really well.
I'm picking Rafa.
