I sincerely hope this question does not get removed, because I am quite serious in wanting responses.

Before and during menopause I heard all sorts of things and expected that afterward many things would change - particularly desire; those periodic heightened monthly 'urges' ; hair growing on my face; and just plain turning to an 'arid' state.

It never happened with me.

Other than the demise of menses, I see no real difference. Am I the exception or have others experienced the same?

I've been embarassed to ask my Doctor.

I know this is probably futile, but Guys, keep it clean! :-)

I pretty much went thru menopause the same way you did and yes, the passion is
still there.
if some of these guys only knew what they were missing,
they would be amazed.
the problem with a mature woman is that she also wants a quality man, not just a passing fling. Well, maybe
an onboard cruise romance
wouldn't be so bad.

My post menopause
was that I had hot flashes that were months, then days apart, now
I have Hot flashes sometimes one right after the other...... I have a hard time staying a sleep
.Some days it is like PMS.
I never cried much now I cry for everything.. No extra hair yet I hope that does not happen
I had a partial hysterectomy ten years ago so I do not have that time of month any more,
I for one do not know what my body thinks it's doing but I wish it would stop....
How long does this take I am so done.....
.When I had a period maybe 7 days and I was good...
When I was pregnant 9 months and that was done......
This is going on and on and on.......I have a question I want to ask but to embarrassed to ask that happening to me....

Sailed through menopause...no problems, no HRT. Won't take hormones.

I am now 12 years postmenopausal. Everything is heading towards Venezuela but healthy as a horse. Great appetite, great energy. Arthritis has struck hands, wrists, elbows, knees and hips...but Ibuprofen takes care of that.

Slight hair loss (from my head), real hair loss other places. My hair seems to be constantly changing places.

I'll tell ya, ya gotta have a sense of humor about all this.

If I were interested, there is plenty of the "bedroom male companionship" available but I fear my newly found ascerbic sense of humor would be a drawback.....HA!!

What I notice more than anything is an incredible sense of peace - inside, a calmness that wasn't there during the hormone-frenzy days. Nothing bothers me anymore....except the occasional screaming child in a store...

I look at life with that odd sense of humor that's developed and fine much to laugh at and about.

My mother always told me these are the best years of ones life...and I believe it...I'm living them.

I was having my period like clockwork until a year ago and then it stopped dead!

While in perimenopause I had a few mild nightsweats but used a progesterone cream that I got at the health food store and that stopped them. Other than that it's been clear sailing. My husband and I are pretty sexual for old farts and that's still working nicely. LOL

So the menopause thing has really been a breeze for me! Frankly I think it's only fair, I used to have the most horrific periods with horrible cramping. So, I figure I'm even.

I thought I was getting off easy, with hot flashes that I could live with, and I wasn't too cranky, so I was determined not to take hormones. Then I started getting up in the night to go to the bathroom. I didn't mind once or twice, but when it became every single hour, and I couldn't go back to sleep, I went to the doctor in desperation. She explained that the bladder changes after menopause, and the only hope was hormones, but I use a uterine ring which gives a low dose. Now I'm only up once a night, and so I'm getting more rest. Sometimes you have to choose the lesser of two evils.

I had uterine cancer at age 46 and they removed everything, which put me into immediate menopause, but a low dose natural estrogen seems to keep me feeling very normal. No hot flashes , no mood swings, no sudden urges. I'm almost 50 now and still feeling fine. I don't think there is anything wrong with you being one of the lucky ones on the side effects of menopause. Count your blessings, as do I, and keep smilling.

I went through menopause when I was 43. The effects from chemo put me into it very early. The day I got the lab results I was so happy!! I really haven't had any bad side effects, beside the hot flashes, and those have pretty much disappeared since I stopped taking the "anti cancer" drugs. I still get a few monthly symptoms like mood swings and such, but nothing like the PMS days. No HRT for me either. I'm in the positive category and it could hit those cancer cells back into action.

I had it at 35 due to surgical reasons, and have been on hormones ever since. I tried going off them a couple of times, but get terrible hot flushes when I do, so I'm still on them. Maybe when I finally retire, I'll go off them, but while I'm working, no way I can stand the dozen or so hot sweats every hour or so. Terrible.

I'm not put off by the scare stories about increased breast cancer - I've read the research and to my mind, its still pretty safe. I just have my annual mammogram and keep checking those puppies for any lumps !

You seem to have been really lucky - good for you !

I'm 57 and just going through menopause. I had hot flashes but began taking a natural, soy and black cohash remedy and now they're gone. Other than that, no change. So far, so good.

When I started getting flushing, it was during the winter so I didn't mind. I told my doctor I didn't want hormones . I suffered terribly with PMS in my younger days and don't miss that one bit. I was infertile from endometriosis ,so I didn't worry about not being able to have children. I sailed right through it , don't have to shave but my grandaughter tells me once in a while that I have a hair growing out of my face so have to get rid of that real quick. There is no reason to be embarrassed to ask your doctor anything. They have heard things you wouldn't believe . Maybe if you write down any questions you may have and hand it to him on your next visit, it would be easier for you.
