Hurray for the state that outlawed the death penalty . . .
Serious "BOOs" for the state that mandates preschool shots!!!

I am just soooooo pleased that I am beyond the age of bringing kids onto this planet - and in particular - into this country...
looks as if we are fast approaching a dictatorship in some areas of "freedoms of choice" . . .

What do you have to say about this latest 'MANDATE'?

Thanx all (4) for your insightful comments and responses - my angst is heightened due to the fact that when I was given flu shots (2) as a kid (in the 50's) I ended up deathly ill - and have remembered the incidents to this day . . . these formulas CAN kill - and I do not get these shots today . . . and did not allow my kids to, either

That'll be hard to enforce. Constitutionally, you can't force anyone to get a medical procedure they don't want. If it's anything like my state, you could sign a waiver that such treatments go against your beliefs.

That said, New Jersey is nuts. They're hardly the standard-bearers for the nation. Thank God I don't live there...

I'm with you on both of these. I am slightly more understanding about the required immunizations, but there are frightening facts about their side effects. Because of the poor state of most Americans' health, we are primed for an epidemic. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place! If I did have children, I would try to find out which specific vaccinations and batches had the worst side effects and try to get around that, but I know that's "top secret" information. I, too, am relieved that at 46, the odds are good I won't have to make those terrible decisions. Autism is the one you hear about most, but with the endless possibilities of retroviruses, I don't think we've seen the worst of it yet.

I don't like the immunizations to be mandatory either but then again, we also have too many parents who don't take these highly contagious and often deadly diseases seriously. They still are common in developing countries and are only a plane ride away. Many people are worried about the rare side effects of these vaccines but they have never seen children who are permanently crippled or even killed by these diseases. Don't take the diseases lightly. They are dangerous.

Well to tell you the truth, it's a great thing that state said byby to the death penaly. But having a mandatory shot isn't so bad. Some parents would die for their kids to have a flu shot especially in certain areas. It's more of a privilage right now. But I agree thats it is imposing our freedom, but is it not a good thing?
