I believe the "Stick Need Hierarchy" goes something like this:
Goalie->Dman->Foward.
So a Dman would take a stick from a foward if they can't get it out of the zone. Likewise, I've seen a goalie lose his stick, a dman gives the goalie his stick, and then a foward gives the same dman his stick.

Powerplay = stay on the ice without a stick until your team clears the puck
Even strength = Wait til your team gains possession of the puck or the opposing player is getting pinned against the boards.

Nah, ya got it all wrong, guys! You first STEP on an opposing player's stick and STEAL it from him (when the refs not looking). Just before the next whistle blows, just SHOVE the blade end up your shirt and fall to the ice, SQUIRM in pain. When the ref sees you and the opponent's name on the stick, you've just earned your team a major (spearing) power play penalty and a game misconduct for the opponent.

Totally depends. If I am playing D, I would hope one of my forwards would give me theirs- since they are closer to the bench and only need to stick on one point guy.

well it depends on the siruation. if he is near the bench he might as well get a new 1. but if the other team is close to the net he Must try and stop the shot any way possible.

It depends on where he is in relation to the play and where his stick is located. Judgement call in every instance. One answer can't fit all possible scenarios.

Play without it. Use your skates, shove people, dive in the way, you do what you can with what you've got. Either that or take someone else's
