Yes and no. Yes because since everyone took them, everything balances out. No because baseball is as much about it's past as it is about it's present. There is a stat for everything. If a player goes in the record books for some great accomplishment, he is now being compared to previous generations that didn't take steroids. By doing so it diminishes what truly great athletes did it the past.

The current playing field would be level but you would destroy the continuity of the history of the game. The game is always evolving, players of today are bigger stronger faster have and better training regimens. It's hard to compare the era's now but if you allowed players to take roids some would some wouldn't for fear of health concerns. Just look at the life cycles of pro wrestlers, not many live to see 60.

No. Guys like bonds ans mcCgwuire have a better advantage over someone like rafeal furcal or marcus giles. Also steroids dont benifit pitchers as much as pwoer hitters.

yea, but who wants to watch a bunch of guys play: who can hit the most home runs by juicing up. I want to watch a game where the players are good and mediocre but they are playing on NATURAL talent.
