My mum would play Motown, Beatles, Elvis amongst other thing such as Otis Reading, Marvin Gaye oh, I could go on. She has a great record collection and played classical music as well.

Jimmy Saville's Sunday Morning Radio show would always be playing whilst she was making the dinner.

My early stuff was U2, Inxs, Housemartins, Prince.

Now my collection is full of different styles from Dusty Springfield to The Hoosiers.

I grew up in Southern California in the late 70s / early 80s, so the punk scene was huge. X, Black Flag, Minutemen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone, Fear, Germs, and Dead Kennedys when they'd come down from San Fran.
I remember going to see the Red Hots when Hillel died...rumor going around was that Anthony had died that week, so nobody came to the show. There must have been 30 people there. Awesome! It was so much fun to see all those bands in small venues.
As far as my parents' music...my mom was big into Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles, and my dad was crazy for the Beatles and old 20's jazz and blues music.

Mom's Jackson 5 tapes, Isley Brothers, Darryl Coley (that gospel singer) Motown and R&B and Soul
Dad's straight-ahead jazz music
My brother's cool old school rap music (and he used to produce music with his equipment)
They also both recommended the local Smooth Jazz station that I still listen to after the AM Gold station left the air

I also grew up with Radio Disney part way when it arrived on the scene
(listened since 1996-97?)
And lotza retro Rock and Pop, Classical and New Age music on various stations
Still listening today to that type of music!

Don't ask - But think of Elvis, Billy Fury etc., 50's (Late!), when I was a baby; 60's through Infants, Junior School and went into the 70's at Senior School - work it out! Elvis had Number 1 singles quite regularly when I was born! And you never ask a lady her age - thank the Lord I ain't no lady - I just tell most people to p*** off and mind their own business, or thank them politely if the take 10 years off!

I loved,Tear's for Fears,Wham, and sooo many others that i can't remember at the moment!

80's/90's music was the best!,better than the crap around now,and I'm only 27!

Know wonder why group's/band's sample allot of the old stuff......it was quality!

I enjoyed music from the '50's(like Frankie Avalon, Paul Anka and groups like Platters, etc.) and the '60's music like the Beatles and the rest of the "British invasion" except I never liked the Rolling Stones music and groups like the Doors (my favorite, along with the Beatles). My son, age 23, likes the '60's music, too...
