My teacher told me that every few years the earth heats up
i think that global warming is real, but it is only natural and is not caused by humanity. think of it this way when there was the ice age there were no humans here to make it freeze so therefore it is more than likely natural..

I know it is, and mostly caused by us.

This is science and what counts is the data, not opinions.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

It real. So is global cooling (i.e. ice ages).

Its a natural cycle of Earth. It is not caused by man and there's no way to tell if its being accelerated by man because the cycles are big and long and we don't live long enough.

If warming continue, society in the future will face some issues but there's nothing we can do to stop it. At best we need to develop ways to cope with living on a warmer planet.

I think the climate is currently going through a warming period and has been for quite a while. I do not think man is primarily responsible. I do not think global warming is bad.

Edit. All interpretation of data is an opinion. When I state an opinion on a subject in my field, it is as a geoscientist, unless I predicate it with "my personal", in which case I intend it as a non-professional opinion. Even here, where I have anonymity. I have looked at the data, more than just looked.

well theres no doubt that the earth is getting hotter, but is it because of CO2? well theres only 0.03% carbondioxide in our atmosphere so i doubt it pretty much, and they have only proven that the earth is gettinghotter, but ove the millions of years they have proven that it gets hotter and collder ( the earth tempreture goes up and down) and they only think that all our 'poloution' is making this speed up the heating process. so a scientist will show you facts and figures and say look were making it worse but the earth would of got hotter anyway they just think that us 'poluting' with speed up this process.

so basicaly, no one can be completely sure if poloution" lays a part in the warming of the earth.

- The other argument is that the greenhouse gasses act like a blanket effect on the earth like when you get in bed the quilt traps youre body heat and warms you, so when the gasses form a big thick blanket the heart the earth gives off warms the earth - bla bla bla... so basicaly

.... its all up to you to deside what you believe, but personaly i dont htink that us driving a petrol car or haveing the washer on 40 degrees instead of 30 will determin the tempreture of our plannet.

Yes, I do. There's too much evidance contrary. I would only hope that even those who don't believe would, help out, and cut back their greenhouse gass emissions. I'm not really a treehugger, but I don't hate the planet, either. So even if we aren't sure it exists, why not play it safe and help out a bit?

its not a matter of believing in it anymore...its how to slow it down, because its happening and its too late to stop it. what we have to do now is try to slow it down by reducing the output of co2 and methane gas. we can do so by changing to an alternative fuel and by stop eating meat (cows are the largest contributors of methane gas)

It is, and has happened. The big question is whether or not we have the doomsday predictions that our politicians and media sometimes argue for or not.
