My god these are some of my favorite bands. How do I pick. The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Pet Shop Boys.
I'm sorry that's the best I can do. By the way forget that 35 or 40 answer I'm 25 and I love this music!

OK, I'll be contrarian and say I like Human League the best, because they still put on a great live show, in smaller venues, and are very approachable. A close second would be DM, with the Cure and the Smiths close behind. Outside of Robbie Williams though, you pretty much mentioned all my favorite acts!

From this list I'd say The Cure, but Depeche Mode made some really heavy electronic music that is great for driving at night.

They have all had one or 2 hits that I enjoy. I think Depeche Mode, the Cure and Morrissey sort of tied for me.
