this question is for anyone who wants to answer. i have had 3 surgerys on my ovaries due to benign cysts. just yesterday i had another episode of the cyst bursting. why the heck is this happening all the time? i could see maybe once in a lifetime but this is getting ridiculous and costly. any remedies or lifestyle or eating habits that i need to change? thanks for your time

No one knows for sure what causes this abnormal cell growth, it's not your fault.
You've received a lot of good information, unfortunately sometimes your body due to your genetics makes these cysts, and the only remedy is removal of the ovary.
But before pursuing anything drastic...
I would also talk with your female relative (mom, sister or aunt) & see if, it runs in your family & what has helped them.
There are many types of cysts, you have to find out what type of cysts you have to make a clear treatment for you.
Polycystic ovaries symptoms:
Irregular periods
Pain, dull aching or cramping in the abdomen
Pain during intercourse
Breakthrough bleeding
Swelling in the abdomen
I would also try alternative treatments, (as someone mentioned) acupuncture or a holistic practitioner.
Good luck, be patient & hang in there.

Well, I've had LOTS of cysts, and often wondered the same thing. Birth control pills helped me a lot. I assume you're on birth control pills now, and that's what you meant by being on estrogen and progesterone? In any case, I have no firm answer for you, just a few suggestions. First of all, make sure you don't have polycystic ovarian syndrome. This is one of those things I assume the doctor checked for, but I figured I'd mention it just to be sure. Second: it could very well be a diet and exercise situation. Exercise should be helpful. As for diet--I know people who claim they were helped tremendously, miraculously even, by Chinese medicine, for cysts and endometriosis. If this is something you'd like to try, then I suggest you search for an appropriate Chinese medicine doctor and see what he/she can offer. Generally they will give you some herbs, recommend certain foods to steer clear of, and maybe do some acupuncture. You have nothing to lose by trying it, except some money.

First of all, I wonder how old you are? In my teens a had issues with cysts. But as my hormones evened out, I didn't have as much as a problem.
Can you give more info. Age? Have you had any kids?

I'm shocked your Dr hasn't put you on birth control pills to keep it from happening. My sis in law had problems with cyst and as long as she was on the pill she was fine.
