AND THIS:
Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world
She took the midnight train going anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train going anywhere

A singer in a smokey room, a smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night

It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers, waiting... walkin' down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Street lights... people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill, everybody wants a thrill
Betting anything to roll the dice just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some are born to sing the blues
oh the movie never ends

It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers, waiting... walking down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Street lights... people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night

Don't stop... believin'
hold on to that feeling
Street lights... people

The Emperor's New Clothes by Sinead O'Connor.

My college roommate loved it. She played it all the time - in the dorm, in the car...... I was 200 miles from home, and learning how to make my own way in the world.

I heard it for the first time - literally - since 1992 a few months back, and it was so weird that I instantly saw us driving around the parking lot of the Randall Park Mall, looking for a good parking spot, and listening to her rag on an ex-boyfriend and some former friends.

I returned to the Randall Park Mall this April to say goodbye (long story - I'm a dead maller) and I heard the song in my head as I drove around the lot - no need to fight for spaces, though........ It was kind of sad.

Jumping Jack Flash by The Rolling Stones. It was a summer's night and I was 14 years old, having my first illegal pint of beer at the pub: The Bird in Hand outside the main gate of R.A.F. Mildenhall, England. I had never heard it before and someone played it on the jukebox really loud. I felt great and loved the song.
