I remember I was sleeping and My Mother woke me calling me, it was one cold rainy day....She gave me some candies and lunch, and told me to go to school.
It was my first Day at School and the long journey of school hatred began at that first day!

Did you like school, BTW?

I can remember events that, from what I understand from family members, occurred as early as a year.

Self-awareness is a unique thing. Many insects are thought to not experience self-awareness. I can't imagine what that would be like; it's as if you'd be without all thought.

When I think of not realizing that I myself exist, I always think of pictures of kittens. Lol. That's because almost all pictures of kittens I see, show them posed in an exact position, and they simply stare, wide-eyed, at the camera. If they could talk, it's as if they'd be saying in a perpetual, monotonous harmony, "We have no thoughts.."

I think that self-awareness in humans most likely begins as early as birth. Though we can't remember it, I'm certain it must be there. After all, I doubt it takes long for an infant to realize that the strange crying they hear every so often is of their own doing.

If not immediately at birth, I'd say that babies are aware of their own existence at least by the time they begin to move their fingers, stare at their hands.. at that point, I think that you realize that you can MOVE *gasp* and that you have at least some level of control over your own actions.

That said, I don't really remember any one event that I'd say started it. It may've been something that I simply acquired over time, as is possible. Who knows.. :]

As for school, I don't know that "enjoy" is quite the word I'd use. I'm the girl that never has to do any work, but is always successful. Therefore, I never really got a chance to have to WORK at something; to feel the joy of learning something new. I still haven't really gotten that chance. I think that if I'd been allowed a challenge thus far, I might've enjoyed the early years of my school career a little better.

I think that's the only thing that makes school worth attending; learning something new. And I don't get many chances to do that -- sometimes, I learn new ways of doing things, but the new methods are almost always more time consuming than my own previously determined methods. Also, far too many people underestimate me.

Good thing you never ask this question in "Seniors" while many of them might be able to remember back that far, many are like me, come to think of it, I am still not sure that I have a sense of self-awareness.

as for school I really loved the recesses.

but hated getting my knuckles smacked with a ruler.

I have had vivid memories since I was two! And yes, those were magical years of the wonder child within me, exploring the world around me. I loved school, the social life, the teachers, then playtime. My mom didn't drive us to school, like I do with my own kids now. We all walked! Through rain, sleet, snow, uphill, downhill ...

I think it was three-years old, maybe even younger. I have a very vivid memory of my third birthday party.

Did I like school? It depends on which grade you're talking about. For the most part, yes, I liked school.
