Depends on the history.

Did you get arrested for a suspended license, or Murder?

How old is ancient? 1 year? Five? Forty?

You need more information if you want a real answer.

You have to tell us a little more. You say ancient, how old are you? Most departments do not hire over 35. Also, if the history contains a felony, then no. Other offenses that will bar you from employment will be DUI, rape, murder, accessory to rape or murder, drug trafficking/production, providing a minor with drugs or alcohol. Having your license suspended will also hurt your chances. Also, having a lot of debt or poor credit can also hurt.

How old are you? You may not qualify on that if this past is so ancient.
