I have to take an antibiotic for a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). I just started birth control Yasmin for the first time on Tuesday. Will taking the antibiotic mess up my birth control, my period, ect?

You should have informed the doctor or pharmacist of ALL drugs you are taking (including Yasmin).

I would just play it safe and use condoms until you are done with the medicine.

I have often heard that antibiotics do interfere with birth control products, alcohol use lessens the effectiveness of the antibiotic, use extra protection to be safe.

The antibiotics should come with a paper of recommendations,suggesting you use another form of birth control,since when you are taking antibiotics, it can make your BC less effective.

It has been known that antibiotics out do the bc. I don't know why, but it's how 2 of my friends have gotten pregnant. So, tell your boy to wrap it up!
As far as your period, you should start it regularly.
