There were many factors contributing to the industrial revolution, the many factories built to supply the armies during the civil war, the migration of the population from the rural to urban communities, the explosion of inventions and new products, the expansion of the railway system, and the wave of immigrants from around the world.

There was capital accumulation during the Civil War. Before 1860, most of America was still rather rural and interstate commerce was very limited to the coast states and the Miss. River states. The building of interstate railroads during the Civil War for the movement of troops and supplies helped commercial expansion after the war.
Also, the massive influx of immigrants from Europe (around 1.5 MILLION) provided an ample source of labor for factories.

a whole bunch. not only was america expanding west. but the collapse of many southern bussiness after the civil war led to a huge migration to the cities. ALSO textile factories and other factories became huge when immagration began to step up because of cheap labor. these factories had many new technologies that led to a boom of factory productions. theress soo much that contributed to this you should look it up online.

This is probably all in your textbook!
I'm not going to flat out give you answers but I don't think a hint on where to look will hurt.
Look up technology--better farming techniques would allow for less manpower on the farm and the ability of people to move to cities. Look up urbanization--people moving from the country to the city.
