This job is working at my father's job, I would be lifting, driving heavy equipment, and doing more tough physical labor. It pays $17.00 per hour, starting pay. This is a dream come true, in some cases, for me (a 19 year old, and I'm a male by the way).

I enjoy challenging myself, and showing myself what I can do (physically wise). My pay checks would be at least 1,000 $'s every two weeks.

Yet, right now, I have a job at a bagel shop, I make sandwiches, change out coffees, and such, I get paid a nice starting pay (compared to my last job, $ 6.75), I get paid $ 7.50, I started that job about 2 months ago, and they are nice, I also work with people (I enjoy that), and I just settled in. I have a soft heart, so I'd honestly would feel like crap for leaving them, and if this job isn't what I hope it to be, I would be stuck with it, yet I need a job, go to college, and to pay for a cell phone (I want to buy), my pay checks NOW are about $ 400.00 - 480.00, and so, I was wondering ...

...if I take this job: would it look bad on a resume I quite so early?

The cons of this new job would be: Physically exhausting, loud noise, I would compare their pay to every other job I ever have past it, and it would be tough to give it up - given the pay.

The Pros: Money, a lot more flexability in schedule, I don't work with all females who smoke and get stressed out and yell at me (which I'm used to now).

What do I do, take it or no?

Of course it isn't a "DREAM" job, it is a job, that invovles a lot of money, true it is selling myself short - yet it is a lot of money for a kid looking for college, and has no bills to pay :)

At your age and career level, quitting the low paying job to take the $17/hr job should not cause any problems. You have an obligation to yourself to do what is in your best interest. You can handle the physical aspect of the job, and you can protect your ears to prevent loss of hearing from the noise level.

The bagel shop will understand that there is a big difference between $7.50 and $17 per hour, and you have to pay for your education. A smoke environment is not healthy, so that is another good reason to leave the current job.

Save for college and get a good education so that you can get $50/hr jobs upon graduation.

It's a no-brainer. The only way you should stay at the bagel place is if you are on the management track.

$17 is more than $7.50. If you feel bad about leaving, do a shift on the weekends.

To say that a job driving a tow motor and doing physical labor is your dream job is selling yourself short.

$17/hr now seems like a lot. Buy a house and it won't.

take the job with your dad, but dont sell yourself short. this is as a transition from when you get a hagher paying job after college. If you are fisically fit then you will not have alot of trouble, but this is no walk in the park. You will encounter people who will think you have preferencial treatment because of your old man. Just follow your imediate supervisors orders and everything will be ok.
