It seems to me like conservatives are very scared right now. They resort to silly, anti-humanist expressions so often that it just makes them bankrupt. Example: Jonah Goldberg saying we should "Give War a Chance": http://www.neoflux.com/archive/data/2001/1009-102400.shtml

Isn't this just frightened insanity? Why do the conservatives have to defend the status quo and the current system so vociferously? Was there really a possibility of getting rid of war that needed a defense of it?

My point is this: How afraid are conservatives that they have to defend inhuman, brutal, and violent practices? Whether peace or war is appropriate, I'd rather have my goal as world peace than "giving war a chance." That's cowardly.

Here's my criteria for who I'll give best answer to:
1. I'll give the best answer to anyone that disagrees with me in a reasonable way.
2. If no one does, best answer goes to the person who agrees with me the most reasonable way.
3. whoever mentions Bush most.

Being conservative has nothing to do with being scared. You can be from all parties and be scared . There are many Humanist out there expressing themselves about the war good and bad. Conservatives like liberals defend the status quo no matter what they are defending at the time. The very Hot topic not among many is the war and you have one side voicing out about it and the other theres.
Pretaining to your comment to How afraid are conservatives that they have to defend inhuman, brutal, and violent pratices. You act that very political figure you naming only conservatives they have to defend inhuman, brutal, and violent practices. When the terriots take our people and kill them and buy know means kill innocent non conservatives should we defend that.? I thinks what he was saying about giving War a chance is he used the wrong word War...You have to understand its a different world, as soon as you understand that..you will get it. I want peace also. I really think until we get a bettter understanding of all over there this will continue. There are to many groups that are the same people and they hate each other ..there is no answer right now..Peace will come in time I hope. The funny thing..if we didn't fight the Wars in the past would we be hear?

Cons biggest strength is their ignorance and paranoia. They actually enjoy being paranoid. They always exaggerate scenarios to the point to only a crazy person would believe it. Example; They want less restrictions on guns because they're convinced that it's a battlefield out their and they need to defend themselves from the inevitable shoot out. They're convinced that if the govt provides healthcare for poor kids, the entire nation will turn communist and all personal property will be seized as a dictator takes over. They're convinced that the people on the opposite side of the planet are a bigger threat than anything else in the world and that we must fight them there so we don't fight them here, but they totally refuse to acknowledge that our borders are WIDE open and anyone could walk across the border with a WMD and attack us here anyway. They're paranoid that if you let gay people marry that suddenly everyone is going to turn gay or try to make laws that allow a man to marry a goat. They turn everything into a slippery slope of paranoia. I wonder how much of it they actually believe and how much of it is them covering up the real reason they oppose so much. I believe that they're hatred and greed is the main reason but it's easier to use the paranioa arguments as opposed to saying things like "I hate gay people", "I hate Muslims" , "I would rather see sick people die then give up a couple of my dollars".

The Cons in America have only hurt the country. All they are is a speed bump on the road to a rational liberal nation. Their fear is force fed to them by radio hacks and phony news stations. The have no agenda other then to oppose everything(except war obviously). I just have a tough time believing their arguments are honest. Do these people really lay awake at night in fear that their son might turn gay because he saw Elton John on TV? Do they sit around in fear there might a terrorist attack in their neighborhood? No, but they'll argue that point until the cows come home.

If they're so convinced that is a noble war then how come none of them are fighting? My guess is that they're too scared to go fight. They'll never admit it. They're more than comfortable sending other peoples kids to war all while calling anyone who doesn't support the war "cowards" and "unpatriotic". I say sign up or shut up. When are YOU going to die for our freedom? I couldn't call you a pussy for not wanting to skydive if I've never skydived either, right?

Listen to any Conservative justification for any of their beliefs and you will notice it's full of gross exaggerations and fear. Hence why so many Cons are religious. The biggest strength religion has on its followers is fear. Otherwise, people would be more apt to learn about the possibility that their religion might be a total hoax. Fear keeps them from questioning the obvious and ignoring information that contradicts and often times disproves their belief.

Fear keeps people in line and the Conservative leaders know it. They feed off the fear. They never let the terror alert go below yellow. There is a scary scent of fascism brewing in the Conservative/Republican party and it needs to be destroyed.

Thankfully, we will breed out this ignorance and fear over time. It will always exist but one day these people will be viewed in the light as how we currently view the Westboro Church people - "Crazys".

OK c.s., here goes. Conservatives are no different than liberals. If you find that to be nonsense then I suggest you go back to the JFK administration and take a hard look at his presidency up to the current Bush Administration. You will find very little difference in policy making and decisions.
That is why I am an independent.

the country was misled on weapons of mass destruction
in iraq. this is a religious war, one we will never win.
bush used to always say saddam tryed to kill hid dad. do you
put hundreds of thousands of lives at risk for that?
war should be a last resort and not a first resort as it is under
bush. also,, we were ill prepared for war and grossly
underestimated the enemy.
guriella warfare is very hard to fight.
colin powell even said there will be a smudge after his name
in history for he went to the american people with what he
thought was fact. he told bush he could not work with
neoconservatives rumsfled and wolfkowitz.
powell wanted to go to united nations first and war last.
the other twp men previously mentioned are hawks and
colin powell is a reasonable man.
give peace a chance before going to war.

Since they love to use fear tactics to convince others that their ideas are right they are caught up in their own propaganda and are scared to death. There is a boogy man under every rock just waiting to yell Inchallah and launche WMDs (home made, of course) but above all they are scared to death that their agenda will be exposed and people will see the ruin they have planned for this great country. They are scared to discuss real issues and prefer to use childish name calling and personal attacks too because the issues scare the daylights out of them. They know that if they were to really discuss issues they would lose big time and their opponents wouldn't even crack a sweat in doing it.

As for your challange I hope that works: Oh I almost forgot....Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush...I hope that is enough times. I can use the points. Hahaahaaaahaa

Most do want world peace and I'm one of them. Sometimes that is unavoidable as was the case in Iraq and Afghanistan. The difference between us is that I want world peace but will not give up my rights as a citizen to get it. Those that want peace at all costs become subjects.

Not at all. To take a phrase and spin it to make a group of people look frightened is in it's self scary because it makes the spinner appear even more frightened over nothing which makes that even more scary that there are groups of people who can become frightened over something that is not scary but can be spun to appear frightening to the spinner which in reality is insane.

I know that doesn't make sense, but then again neither does your question.

maximum folk delight in a level of compassion in the direction of one yet another, nature, the planet, getting to grasp and fact. Conservatives have none of those features: they care approximately money. money is their objective, their purpose and their purpose; to the cost of each and every thing else of their existence. examining (something that conservatives in basic terms do while creating wealth is in contact) will advantages each and every physique with the information that money is probable the least significant ingredient of each and every person's existence. EVEN THE BIBLE SAYS SO!!!!! Liberals have a miles extra care-unfastened way of residing the place the acquisition of wealth takes 2nd place to all different plenty extra worthwhile activities. Conservatives purely won't be able to comprehend that some human beings do no longer commit their finished existence to money: the finished thought is purely alien to them. for this reason, conservatives concern people who've the skill to think of of issues different than money, so as that they attempt to scare us into their - under suitable - way of thinking. it is all approximately money: the two you commit your total existence to it, and believe that putting some shekels right into a charity container will open the gates to heaven for you, or you evolve spiritually with another soul who has a minimum of a few information of purely how undesirable the finished money thought particularly is. My kin is somewhat suitable heavy with conservatives: and that i pity all of them. it is purely one failure after yet another with all of them. they are on no account satisfied, and that they are not properly loved the two, they are continuously finding for the "great killing!" I on the different hand, have an superb existence. I even arise with the money for to stay to tell the story, and that's all i desire and desire.

You ask why cons have to defend the status quo so vociferously. I say it is because we think that it is the right thing to do. Also, if we decided to re-deploy the troops, it would show all our other enemies that we are not committed to our decisions and would be willing to give up when the going gets tough.

I could ask the same of dems, Why do they fight the status quo (might I add that some of them are equally responsible for it) so vociferously??

that's a great point and one that is not mentioned very frequently.

you get a star!

it would take real courage to stand in the face of terrorism and at the same time state unequivocally that there are no american rights that will ever be compromised because of this new threat.

real courage is completely lacking in the republican party these days and all too rare in the democratic party as well.
