if your discharge is brown or really dark in colour, its just your body getting rid of old blood from your system. This is perfectly normal. after a while when the new blood comes, your discharge will turn red again

You may want to see a doctor, I have never had that and don't know anyone who has get checked out I am sure it is nothing but you can't be to careful.
