American people like a good fight. This means WWE to them is more real than real boxing/wrestling.

It's just a form of entertainment. No one American or otherwise watches this thinking it is true sport. At the same time while the matches are predetermined the wrestlers still have to have considerable skill. Strength, Speed, Agility and so on. So it's not without it's qualities. Although I do wish even though I know it's fake that they would go back to at least trying to make it look a little more real and cut out some of the soap opera crap that they are putting out these days.

Also if they were to really fight they could never put the show on every week because the fighters would be out recovering for a month or two before they could fight again. Think about it how soon after a fight does a boxer step back into the ring again or an MMA fighter... Usually there are months of time between fights. If wrestling was real they could not put the show out every week.

I don't know if you have movies where you are from but Wrestling is like a movie that comes on 3 times a week and occasionally on Sundays. It is entertainment. I'm tired of people saying "Wrestling is fake why do you watch it" my response "T.V. shows and movies are fake, but that doesn't keep you from watching that." UFC is real fighting, and the only problem I have with that is 2:00 min. into the fight, they are hugging on each other because they are so worn out. Wrestlers can go forever. Check out Shawn Michaels v.s. Bret Hart in a 60 min Iron Man Match, and tell me how many UFC guys can do that!!!

It's sports entertainment & ppl have been watching wrestling since the days of the old World of Sport on tv.It's accepted that the wrestling is scripted & the moves of the match well-rehearsed beforehand. The running of the match & the timing & style of finish are all planned.
But i disagree on the actual "contact" of WWE or TNA wrestling. The moves & finishers are all real as are the bumps & other holds. The trick is that the stars have all been trained yet they have to "sell" the impact.
Injuries do happen sometimes Moordah:
Gregory Helms ~ broken neck.
Bobby Lashley ~ torn shoulder ligament.
John Cena ~ torn pec tendon muscle.

What does it matter if it's "fake" or real?

And it's not 100% fake; the wrestlers still risk injuring themselves with moves, and one wrong move could result in a life-threatening injury. And speaking of people paying to watch acting, don't movies have acting?
What about Broadway musicals?
And about 99% of television?

If you don't like it, don't watch it. There's no use complaining about it's realness.

arealpissedoffasian- There is a difference in respecting a preference in something and straight up bashing it. I watch UFC as well, but I prefer to watch professional wrestling, and I have my reasons for it. UFC being real is not a reason for me to watch that religiously, and real violence doesn't persuade me that it's more entertaining. It's fine if people don't like professional wrestling, but it's a different story when someone bashes it and the people who watch it.

You opened the can of worms and asked a question i was going to ask a while ago but i chickened out!
PMSL at the guy who said, and i quote " I don`t know if you have movies where you are from"... No, i`m sitting here trying to keep warm around this candle!!
(Just so he knows, in the North of England there is a house that was the first house in the world to have - guess what? Electricity!! Amazing!)
I like to think of it this way, in England we have a tradition, loads of people go to watch a few people acting and fooling about, everyone laughs, some boo and hiss, it`s all scripted and there is always a baddy and a goody - it`s called pantomime! In America they call it wrestling!
I fail to see though how this can be called a sport and how grown ups can take it seriously. I knew a guy a few years ago who loved it, stayed up late to watch every program, taped them all and spent most of his spare time watching it all over again. I dared to tell him it was all faked and he fell out with me big time. I`m laughing now thinking about the look on his face.

It's a simple bit of harmless fun, nothing more, nothing less.

Why do people bother with crap reality TV shows ? That is more FAKE than wrestling, at least wrestling fans can admit to it being fake, unlike those sad tossers who watch big brother and survivor and the x-factor!

I prefer the UFC. I would rather see actual fighting than a scripted ballet. Sorry if I offended any of you wrestling fans. It's just not for me.
I think the reason behind it is simple: pure violence. They simulate the violence because if they did half of the things they acted out, there would be dozens of bodybags. And yes, there are the injuries. Let us not forget that every sport has its injuries and just because they have them does not make it unique or any more "tough" than any sport.
Let us not forget he raised a legitimate question, one that a lot of people have on their minds. Be a little bit more open minded, and think of where he is coming from before you call his friends "dumbasses." He craves real violence while you cling to your fancy acrobatics.

WWE isnt wrestling its entertainment, its like a soap opera where the actors are required to act because that is how they get their character across to the fans.
if you compare WWE to japanese federation NOAH you will see a huge difference.
for one they take their wrestling very seriously, fans act differently to an american crowd meaning they applaud and study what is represented infront of them, alot of respect is shown towards wrestlers who show great wrestling ability and are treated like rockstars in japan.

i'm an American and that i've got yet to fulfill and grownup that believes WWF or WCW wrestling is actual no longer to show one that weeps over it. Your information is misguided. Why do Muslims hate people they do no longer understand only because of the fact they do no longer understand them. Do you adore harmless people being killed relatively on your god or for the reason which you adore to hate. Muslim=hate.

Its like entertainment. Everyone knows its fake, but its like a play, i guess. They watch it to see a good show.

Personally, i don't care for it. As far as fighting, i like boxing and mixed martial arts much more.
