I'm not criticizing America. What I'm doing is brining attention to certain things.
You cannot fix what you don't see is broken and as more things become broken you continue to believe they are not.
Yes America is a good country with much potential to be a great country.
If your life main goal and central purpose in life is money and the acquisition of it then the USA is a good place for you.
The USA is a good place for which to pursue wealth as there are many avenues open to the entrepreneur from the honest to the shady.
You can make money through a good idea, hard work, suing people, exploiting people/things, many different ways.
It is a capitalist utopia yes, but as every thing's usefulness and worth is based on dollar signs then everything as a result looses any value. Except what can monetarily be associated with it.
That is why the disparity between rich and poor is growing in America and why they are not on more lists.

It's sad how many Americans here are refuting these facts simply because they've been plugged into their TVs, being programmed to believe that America is some kind of great, infallible country where they have more "freedom" than any other civilized nation.

Many of the factors that decided the points were not realistic. While one country may have free health care for everyone, which would get a huge amount of points, it doesn't take into consideration the quality of that health care. Furthermore, can you really trust stats that come from a country, without anything to back them up? Many countries "Fudge" their stats.

The true way to tell what countries are best is to look at immigration, which countries have a problem with illegal immigration because everyone wants in, as oppossed to which countries have a problem with stopping people from sneaking out.

Uh, well, for one thing, the U.S. has a massively bigger population than almost all the countries on the "best example" list. Population is a factor in the quality of things ranging from health to crime. We are, as of this year, the third most populated nation in the world, after China and India, two countries whom we don't even approach in population: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population . Of the countries on your list, Japan is closest in size to the U.S.: its population is only half ours.

We also have a massively more diverse population. Diversity = differences = conflict between ignorant people.

I count that The United States of America is on at least 13. Maybe I misunderstood you and you mean Latin and South America..in which case you are right, but they really aren't on any kind of competing level in human rights, education, or a lot of other things compared to other countries which would be why they are left off...

I love that Sweden is considered #1. They're the ones who just stopped mandating Eugenics in the 70s and have got to be the most racist country I've ever been to. Sorry, but that's the impression I got after being there for over 6 months.

Sweden is great in many ways, but it certainly isn't utopia.

Oh and isn't the US #8 on one of those lists?

Because about 45% of people living in USA are nearly monkeys in all practical terms. (Nothing to do with race here, I promise, there are definitely plenty of white and all colored monkeys here) If you poured that ratio of quasi-humans into a hoity toity country like Norway, how long could they deal with it before their country started having major problems?
Norway is kind of like a "gated community" way on the "right side of the tracks".
