Sometimes when the fertilized eggs implants in the lining of the uterus there will be a little blood from it and it will come out a couple of days later and be light and brown, since it's old when it comes out. You would see it about a week before your period is due. Only 20% of women get this at all.

Implantation bleeding occurs when an egg has been fertilized and implants into the lining of the uterus. Because the lining uterus is made up of blood, there can be a bit of blood expelled in some women.

It is rare spotting that occurs when the fertilized egg implants into the wall of the uterus. It can be accompanied by mild cramping as well. Most women do not experience this.
