My wife dropped out of high school after the 10th grade. After several years learning that you can't make much money without a diploma she got her GED and the applied to a State U. She was accepted, made dean's list, gathered some honors, and graduated with her bachelor's. She then got another bachelor's. She's now working on a double-major master's and is holding a 4.0 in grad school. Her job isn't the best in the world but that's because she's still in school full-time. It is a much better position than she had before she went back to school.

Not bad for a high school drop-out from the upstate hill country. ☺

I got a GED and went to college afterwards. I started at a community college and got good grades which allowed me to attend a higher university. I also got good jobs while in college-with just my GED.

I'm not quite sure what your question is as I and tons of other people are quite successful after getting our GEDs rather than actual high school diplomas. Guess what? Even some people who didn't get either are extremely successful too!
