I am now 10 weeks pregnant and for the past three weeks have avoided eating meats of any kind. Just thinking about it makes me get sick to my stomach. I am craving vegetables and it seems to be the only thing that is keeping me satisfied and my tummy settled. I hope I am not robbing my baby of protein in eating veggies all the time. Any protein replacement ideas?

Nuts, especially peanuts and cashews, have a lot of proteins in them that help.

Eggs are always great because you can cook them any way you like.

Soy products are okay, if you can stomach them (especially during pregnancy)

Beans! They have TONS of nutrients like protein in them that's just absolutely perfect for you AND the baby.

Oh man. I remember that phase. All I could stand was Catalina salad dressing for about 2 weeks. I would stick with things that don't offset your sense of smell. Like toast, soup, vegetables, etc. Both times I have been pregnant I couldn't stand a strong buttery or egg smell. You might be like that too. Just be sure to take a vitamin every day to help make sure you're getting nutrients but I really don't think a pared down diet of things you can stand will hurt you during this short stage.

I am 10 weeks too! And having the same trouble with meat, I can sometimes do roast beef, but nothing else,,any kind of chicken is so gross even the thought!! I have been eatting alot of beans, bean tacos, bean tostadas, bean soup.I have finally been able to stomache eggs, and have been drinking slimfasts, and someone suggested Ensure the one with extra protien. By the way I am not trying to lose weight with the slimfasts I drink them like water and not replacing a meal. Good Luck,,I am sure soon you will be able to eat meat again.

Go to GNC or something like it and get some Whey protein supplements. You mix them into drinks and can make them with ice cream for shakes. They aren't the best tasting, but will help you get some protein in for the baby. Otherwise if you can tolerate cheese, or beans they are also good replacements.

Milk has lots of protein, eggs, peanut butter, nuts, cheeses (pasturized only), tofu. Stick with the veggies that is good. Same thing with me, I find meats to be repulsive. Add some protein whey to a blender with frozen fruit, orange juice and yogurt and it is packed with protein and vitamins. Nuts even have some protein. Add some slice almonds and boiled eggs to your salad.

There are other ways of getting protein, fruit smoothies, milkshakes, poached eggs or any way you like them, linsoy bread, any soy products, some cheeses (stay away from white soft cheese though). What about fish and other seafoods, they are a good source of protein as well.

I was the same way. Someone could say the word steak or chicken and I would get sick. I ate a lot of bean and cheese burritos and made sure to take my prenatal pills. That's about it.

im sure after the next couple of weeks you will get ur craving back, if not im sure it will be okay, as long as your eating. not junk food though. try some eggs, beans have good protein, try eating nuts, if your not allergic.
