I like it.
It's a nice classic and traditional name, that's strong and masculine, and it's especially nice if you're of Irish culture. Even if you're not, it's a really lovely name. It's not trendy or popular. It's just a really nice name!!
Gratz on your baby!

Well it is an Irish name and I love Irish names, but sadly the only kid I ever knew called Seamus was a bit mental! It was also the name of a dog my husband and I used to have so I suppose it is never going to sound that great to me!
However it is uncommon so would be a good choice if you are trying to be different. Just have to make sure people understand how to pronounce it (its Shay-mus not See-mus!).

I love it! It's very cool sounding to me. It's more common in Ireland, being the Irish form of James, but it's very uncommon in the US. I love the sound of it (SHAY-muss) and I love the nickname Shae/Shay. Very cute on a child, very exotic and hip on an adult.
ETA: I can't stand when people come up with stupid nicknames for a name and tell you that's why they don't like the name. My name's Kayt, and kids used to make fun of my name. There are some names that are begging for teasing, like Aspen, Gaylord, etc. but Seamus isn't one of them. (And I think Irish Mommy and I share a brain sometimes. *g*)

Love it. Familiar when heard (to most, a few uninformed comments aside LOL), but not at all overused. Definitely an intriguing, classic choice. I personally love Shea as a possible nickname, as well. ;) Great name.

I love the name. It's pronounced SHAY-mus. If your last name is Goldberg, maybe not, but if it's Kelly, go for it. I believe it translates to James in English, so he could always be James, or Jim or Jimmy.

I love it. I wouldn't actually use it though because I feel it would be strange if the parents weren't "off the boat" Irish.

Yeah, harry potter.....Seamus Finnigan
I think he wouldn't like his name. I think he would be made fun of.
Even though I like it myself, kids are cruel, and will take advantage of it.

How would you pronounce it by the way? "See-mus" or "Say-Mus" cuz I'd be ok with the 2nd one more than the first. Like the other person said...he'd probably get made fun of for it :-\
